What’s so significant about Easter Sunday?

Easter Verses, Resurrection Sunday

We have entered into a holy season as Catholics and Christians have already celebrated Ash Wednesday, and are soon to be celebrating Palm Sunday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday.

I may be one of the few Christians who won’t be attending a Easter Sunday service this year. What?!?
Let me explain. The reason we go to church each and every Sunday is so we can remember the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. The local church I attend, celebrates “Easter” every Sunday. The worship songs we sing boasts about His sacrifice. We partake from the communion table every Sunday morning, not just once a month. We hear preachers speak about the Hope we have from Christ being Risen and Alive! So Easter Sunday is not special to us, all 52 Sundays are! The remembrance of what he has done for us, is what keeps me going until His return.

I love the conversation Jesus had with Martha in John 11.

25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

27 She said to Him, “Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.” (NKJV)

Romans 10:9 says that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

So, why is Easter Sunday and every Sunday significant? Why is Christ death and resurrection significant? I made this book mark for you to remember the following:

  1. Christ died for my sins
  2. His abundant mercy gives me living hope
  3. I am made alive and given eternal life through Him
  4. Christ makes intercession on behalf of me
  5. I know my redeemer lives, and I will see Him face to face one day

  1. Great reminder on how we should celebrate the resurrection every Sunday! Pinning the awesome bookmark!

  2. I love those verses! A great collection to celebrate Easter.

  3. Absolutely Love how we are to remember Christ and His resurrection all 52 Sundays ,and every single day. We are to celebrate His victory over death every day.

  4. We celebrate at our church like you do. However I attend worship on Easter Sunday as it is the fulfillment of my Lenten journey each year…The soup & bread suppers with fellow believers, the special Lenten services & Holy Week. How sad to leave the Good Friday service in silence and then not rejoice on Easter morning. It would be incomplete to me to miss the resurrection service especially when we have a sunrise service. Blessings.

    • Hi Diane, Thank you for commenting. I will be attending my worship service on Easter Sunday this year, but it is the same worship service we have every Sunday. Its like a mini Easter service all 52 Sundays of the year! Many blessings to you sister as you observe Lent and Holy week.
