Timeless Promises for the New Year

Have you ever been to Times Square on New Year’s Eve?

Are you one of the one million people that stand before One Times Square bidding farewell to the past year? Have you braved the cold to see the balloons, confetti, and fireworks?

I lived in NYC for most of my life, but I have yet to experience a “ball drop” and have confetti scattered all over me.

So what was I doing when the clock struck 12, for the past 30 somewhat years?

I was at church! That’s right, for as long as I can remember I spent every last minute of the last day of the year at church.  New Year’s Eve service at church was always a memorable one. This was a time to share stories (testimonies) of the past year. I actually looked forward to hearing what everyone had to say.

So lets take a minute to build your own story for 2017.

How did your life compare to the previous years? (check out my new video below and share with others!)

Were you blessed with immeasurable blessings, a new job, new baby, or got married?

Was it a roller-coaster, with ups and downs? lost a job? lost a loved one?

Were you on fire for the Lord, serving him in every aspect of your life? Or did you not attend church at all except for Christmas?

Maybe it wasn’t a perfect year, and you are pleading with God to give you a brighter, joyful, and more hopeful 2018.

Whether good or bad, everyone at church who shared their story had one bible verse to share- a promise that ultimately got them through the past year, and a promise that will take them to the new year ahead.

Regardless of how your year went, there are many biblical promises you can end your year off with, and start your New Year off fresh. These verses are equal for today, and tomorrow, because God’s promises are timeless!

Sue, you chose some great verses!! My year was up and down. As I begin looking back, I see how God worked through the One Word He gave me to focus on. It’s AUTHENTIC. He’s drawn me closer to Him, challenged me to be more real with Him and others, and He’s been working healing for some childhood wounds.

My verse for the year is Hosea 6:3—“So let us know, let us press on to know the LORD.
    His going forth is as certain as the dawn;
And He will come to us like the rain,
Like the spring rain watering the earth.”

Thanks for the reminder that God’s word is always what we need, and He can speak to anything we go through.

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas!
PS—It was great to meet you at the FMF Twitter party last night!

Hi Jeanne, Thanks for stopping in! That’s a great word- authentic, i think many of us have to learn to be a little bit more authentic these day, and not put up a veil. Also great verse to end the year off with! Hope to be chatting with the FMF group soon!

Last year was a very different year. It was an introverted year, which was a first for me. Your 7 trinkets of hope were walked out. That made all the difference – learning how to wait and trust in him makes all the difference. Thanks for the sweet reminder to keep those close! Praying God’s Shalom on your new year!
