I often watch Dr. David Jeremiah’s Sunday morning Turning Point broadcast when I am unable to attend my own church service. One Sunday, as the program ended they were advertising Dr. Jeremiah’s new Study Bible, and the Kids Study bible, Airship Genesis. My 5 year old screamed out saying, “that’s what I want for my birthday.” (He was turning 6 years old in a few weeks). My son already has a very nice copy of the Adventure Bible for kids (which I also highly recommend), but His brother tore the cover off so he has been asking for a replacement. Well lucky for me, the Airship Genesis Bible was on BookLook Bloggers and I was able to get a free copy of this Bible in exchange for a review.
When my son saw the Bible, he was extremely happy, his first words were “this is soo cool”. How many times do you hear kids say that about a Bible? The hardcover of the Bible seems sturdy enough that I hope his brother doesn’t tear it up again. The overall color scheme is blue, which I feel is geared more towards boys, but maybe there will be some girls that are attracted to the color scheme as well.
There is a “Foreword to the Airship Genesis” telling the children what to expect from this Bible. It has a great message to start exploring the Gods word. David Jeremiah ends off this letter by saying “God was thinking of you when He wrote it.” (I hope my son keeps that truth in His heart at all times!) There is also a salvation message page, asking the children “Do you want to receive Gods gift?” I do pray my sons answer will one day be YES.
The Bible we received is the NKJV version, which I typically prefer for my own bible study. This Bible is designed with the Genesis Exploration Squad, they are the theme, and team that go throughout the Book. Each book of the Bible has a colorful page to introduce the book. There are great illustrations, segments that include Bible heroes, and discovering the adventure which review pertinent bible stories.
There is also an online website which includes more access to several Bible stories. Access is given with a password when you purchase the Bible. We already checked it out, I did feel it was more appropriate for 7-9 years not really a 6 year old.
Over all, I am thrilled to have received this copy. I will surely pass it along or even buy my other two sons this Bible when they are ready to read.
You can check out Airship Genesis on Amazon to get your children their own copy of the “coolest Bible”.
