Meet fellow Christian Bloggers whom i've become friends with this year!

When I decided to become a stay at home mom, one of my biggest fears was that I would loose touch with “real people.” Two years ago I did not have any social media accounts and I was just focused on my work, and “home work.” After I had baby number three I started this blog, and realized the importance of social media in the world of blogging, so I pretty much joined everything- Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest. Although social media is meant to connect people from your past, and keep current friendships fresh, through this blog, I actually made more new friends than I ever did in college.

Yes, complete strangers. But God actually brought these blogging friends into my life to encourage me as a writer, as a mother, and as a wife. (Maybe not so much as a pharmacist, but that’s okay!)

My two dear blogging friends Dani from Free Indeed and Julie from Unmasking the Mess nominated me for The Bloggers Recognition Award!

A little bit about Dani and Julie

Dani and I met in the beginning of this year through my Facebook Group Christian Marriage and Motherhood. We were able to get to know each other better over the months and I was so excited to find out she also went to college in NYC, and has family in New Jersey. We share blogging tips with each other, and encourage each other on a weekly basis. She wrote a wonderful guest post for me called:  7 ways to Honor God and your Family by limiting Social Media

Julie and I have recently became close as the Lord laid on my heart to text her one morning and ask her what her blog was all about. Within the short two weeks of that text message, we ended up being part of a private bloggers group, who build up and encourage each other! What a blessing to know my initial text message was to get me familiar with Julie and her life and testimony. One of my favorite blog posts Julie has written recently is: How To Be A Great Christian Mom

Thank you Dani and Julie for nominating me!

How my Blog started

I attended a Spring Ladies Conference in 2016 at a local church where the speaker, Susie Larson (Christian Radio host, author, and mom of three boys) inspired me!  I came home after the conference spiritually renewed. I realized I first and foremost need to refocus my eyes on the Lord, and find balance between my mommy life and my spiritual walk. I wanted the Joy of the Lord to be my strength again, and here I am- still trying to find that joy and strength, and encouraging other busy women to find it with me!

My Advice to New Bloggers

  • If you are new to blogging or even a seasoned one always remember before you write an article, you should examine your own life, and see if you are exemplifying the topic you are writing about. For example: If you write about joy, is your own home filled with joy and are you pursuing it in your own life? We must live out what we write, and speak, and then only will our words truly touch the reader. Emphasis should not be placed on quantity but on the authenticity of your faith.
  • You should not be eyeing out your fellow bloggers growth on social media or number of followers or blogging stats and feel upset that your numbers don’t match up. I think I fell into that trap in the beginning, but by month 5 into blogging, I decided to turn numbers into stats for myself. I now study my growth, and learn through courses, or just by asking other bloggers what their best tips are. Rather than comparing, be willing to spend time and research and sometimes money to enhance your blog if you would like to see growth.

An Encouraging Verse

I love the verse Proverbs 27:17 “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”

Click To Tweet

This is what I see happening within the Christian Blogging Commnity. This verse emphasis the need of having each other to become sharper, and more efficient in the calling the Lord has given to each Christian blogger. The women I have met and befriended in this community shapen one another through interaction on social media, facebook groups, and through encouraging thoughts sent through their personal emails and texts.

I would love for you to check out my blogging friends, whom I developed relationships with over this past year. I am nominating these 4 ladies for the Blogger Recognition Award.

Meet my Nominees

Sarah from Bible Baton, randomly texted me on Instagram to tell me we had some mutual friends. From that one text message we realized we were raised in the same church community and are similar in many ways. Although we are walking in two different stages of life, she is such an encouragement to me. In June Sarah did a wonderful guest post for me called 8 Practical Ideas on how to Study the Bible with your Kids

Kira Bridges from Joy Pursued was part of my Instagram group called #faithfullyencouraged. Although we don’t have the group anymore, Kira and I now talk daily, about our wins, prayer maters, and questions about blogging. Kira is passionate about living fully for Christ and that is reflected through her writings. Check out her most recent powerful post called How to Become Pure in Heart

Gretchen Fleming and I met on my Christian Marriage and Motherhood group. She is someone I look up to spirtually. She has a wonderful testimony as a speaker, and has done mission work abroad. Her love of sharing Gods word inspires me. Gretchen and I recently swapped blog posts, I hope you will check both of them out: Why should we Relinquish Self Pride to draw closer to Christ? How Sue Used God’s Word When She Was In Need Of Healing

Valerie Murray from Cord of 6 is a mom of 4, and I often text her on Facebook for advice not only for my blog but for my spiritual walk as well. She has always offered to pray for me when I am going through a tough time in various areas of my life. I hope to get a chance to collaborate with her one day.  One of my favorite blog articles from Val is: How to be Spiritually Fit.

I am blessed by meeting these women online, and am absolutely encouraged by their blog, and social media posts. Though I have never met these women in person, I pray God gives me the opportunity to meet them all at a bloggers conference, or writers convention. If I didn’t start this blog, I would have never realized how the Lord can work through women in ministry, and He is allowing the Christian Blogging community to thrive in order to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ, to all the world even if it is virtually.

I’m thrilled to be able to nominate you! What sweet words you have for me!
Hoping to get to know you better and am cheering you on as your ministry grows and reaches others!

  • Sarah at BibleBaton September 18, 2017 at 1:48 pm

So fun to see so many women I respect and appreciate mentioned together in one post! 🙂

I’ll be honest–I’ve been kinda discouraged about blogging lately. So I am humbled and grateful to receive this nomination! Thanks Sue! ❤️

But the best part of this post, for me, was seeing how other Christian women are meeting through blogging, and then going on to build real friendships and make an eternal impact on each other.

God never intended for us to do the Christian life alone. Praise Him for fellowship & encouragement!!

Hello my sweet friend!~ I’m so happy to be nominated by you. You are such a blessing to me. This looks like a fun way to get to know other bloggers as well and a very fun post to write. We definitely need to swap posts!

I love the way the Lord connects the heart of woman bloggers across the country and even the world through the internet and making connections that would not have happened otherwise! <3 Misty

  • Melissa September 19, 2017 at 7:20 am

I have only been blogging about a month but it is amazing to see the connection and support all of the Christian bloggers have for each other. It is such a genuine community to be a part of! I love Proverbs 27:17 “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” Not one of us is each other’s competition but someone to learn and grow from! God Bless!

    • Sarah at BibleBaton September 19, 2017 at 11:22 pm

Melissa, I can’t believe you’ve only been blogging for a month. Your site is beautiful! I’d say you’re off to a good start! 😉

  • Angela September 19, 2017 at 2:10 pm

I love this! I have had a similar experience in the blogging world. It is beauty birthed in those unique friendships!

    And congrats on the award!

  • Kira September 20, 2017 at 10:56 am

Thanks for nominating me dear friend. I’m so glad to know you.

  • Katie September 24, 2017 at 3:31 pm

I LOVE this! Congratulations, Sue! I actually live in an intentional community with other Christ-followers, but when the Lord led me to blog about it He opened the doors to more Christ-honoring relationships. I am part of the Facebook group and have loved all the beautiful encouragement from my sisters in Christ… ❤
