Confident uncertain future

Let’s face it:

We have a new President Elect waiting to take office in a few days! People are still shocked about the results of the election, but let’s not have an unnecessary unease over it.
You may be looking for a new career, let’s not have an unnecessary apprehension about it.
You may be looking to purchase a new home, let’s not have an unnecessary hesitation regarding it.
Your children are searching for the perfect college, let’s not have an unnecessary worry concerning it.
And so it goes…

How confident are you when the days ahead seem quite uncertain?

Proverbs 31: 25 comes to mind about when I start to even ponder about the future. Let’s look at this one verse in 4 different translations.

New International Version

She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.
New Living Translation
She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.
New American Standard Bible
Strength and dignity are her clothing, And she smiles at the future.
King James Bible
Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.

Can you smile, laugh, and rejoice at the future, in the days to come? As a mama of three boys sometimes its easier to read it, than to live it.Can you smile, laugh, and rejoice at the future, in the days to come? Click To Tweet

A perfect reminder from God’s word of the uncertain days to come is Mathew chapter 6 vs 25-34.

25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

28 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

If you listen to contemporary Christian music, Jason Gray put these verses into a beautiful song called Sparrows. Here is his video on You Tube.

(Writer(s): Words and Music by Jason Gray, Mia Fieldes and Jonathan Smith)

If he can hold the world he can hold this moment
not a field nor flower escapes his notice
Oh even the sparrow
Knows he holds tomorrow
even the sparrow knows
He holds tomorrow

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Mat. 6:34 Click To Tweet

Lovely sentiment. I wish I could figure out how to let go of more of my worries and fears.

Letting go is hard, but keep trusting and praying. I find praying out loud help us to relieve some of it.

Sue, this is one of my favorite scriptural passages in the Bible because it shows the beauty and strength God intended to be a part of every woman’s soul. You have done a great job directing our hearts away from worry and into the arms of a God who has it all under control! I’d just love for you to share on Fresh Market Friday Link-up…what a perfect fit, where we share our posts on living our life with passion and intention!
